To graduate from Michigan State University, a student must obtain a score of 19 or better on the Proctered Mathematics Placement Exam or a student may meet the mathematics requirement by completing one of the following at MSU:
- One course from among MTH 110, MTH 112, MTH 116, MTH 124, MTH 132, MTH 152H, and MTH 201
- Both MTH 103 and MTH 114
- Either STT 200 or STT 201
- Mathematics 112 Finite Mathematics: Applications of College Algebra
- Mathematics 110 Finite Mathematics and Elements of College Algebra
- Mathematics 114 Trigonometry
- Mathematics 116 College Algebra and Trigonometry
- Mathematics 124 Survey of Calculus I
- Mathematics 201 Mathematical Investigations I
- Statistics and Probability 200 Statistical Methods
- Statistics and Probability 201 Statistical Methods
It should be noted that MTH 103 (College Algebra), or equivalent, is a prerequisite for MTH 106, MTH 114, MTH 124, STT 200, and STT 201. Further, students who are not adequately prepared mathematically to be successful in MTH 103 may need to take the remedial course MTH 1825 before taking MTH 103.
Notes: Beginning Fall 2002 students bringing in transfer credit for MTH 114 must also have the equivalent of MTH 103 as is required of all Michigan State students.
