Grading:  Your grade will be based on 500 points, as follows:

There will be about 10 Quizes (q), essentially one on each Tueday except those weeks there is an exam scheduled or it is a holiday.  Your two lowest quiz scores will be dropped. There will be no make-up quizes;  a missed quiz will count as one of the two scores to be dropped.

There will be three Hour Exams (h): The hour exams are given in recitation. Tentative dates:  September 18, October 16 and  November 20.

There will be a uniform Final Exam (f) taken by all MTH133 students. The final will count the same as two hour exams.

This gives a student six grades: q, h, h, h, f and f, 100 points each. Drop the lowest of these six grades and average the remaining five grades  for your course grades.

There will be no make-up exams.

There will be 10 bonus points for passing the MTH133 Gateway Exam I  and another 10 points for passing the MTH133 Gateway Exam II.

If your final point total is in the range below, you are guaranteed the corresponding grade:

Point total              Grade

 450-500                  4.0

 425-449                  3.5

 400-424                  3.0

 375-399                  2.5

 350-374                  2.0

 325-349                  1.5

 300-324                  1.0

If the situation warrants, final grades may be higher than given by this breakdown, but they will not be lower.
