Gelfand’s trick shows that the spherical Hecke algebra of a p-adic split reductive group such as $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbf{Q}_p)$ is commutative. In this talk I will present a generalization of this result to the setting of derived Hecke algebras as introduced by Venkatesh, i.e. I show that the spherical derived Hecke algebra is graded-commutative under mild assumptions on the coefficient ring.
